GitOps has become the default way to manage configuration in cloud-native environments with Argo and Flux as one the most popular tools for keeping Git and Kubernetes in sync. But GitOps lacks standardized end-2-end traceability of each step when synchronizing changes on the target environments. Additionally, Kubernetes lacks application awareness as it is only focusing on workloads without dependency or version management. It is hard to enforce pre- and post-deployment orchestration tasks such as validating dependent external services, sending notifications or validating all SLOs are healthy for a new version.
